A multi-million dollar display centre for the Nova City tower development is set to open for inspection late next month after the Singapore-based developer launched a global sales campaign for the project.
Off-the-plan apartments in the first residential tower – a 17-storey building named Nova Light – are being described as “contemporary residences combining visionary architecture and elegant interiors”.
The grand plan by developer World Class Land, a subsidiary of Singaporean listed company Aspial, involves a $550 million mixed use development on the 24,000m2 site off Spence St, with 1158 apartments, office space and retail offerings.
The first stage involves apartments, penthouses and townhouses being offered for salein the Nova Light tower, which is being marketed as the first of seven towers to be built.
Nova City will primarily be marketed to the developer’s extensive investor list in Asia, though it is expected some local and domestic investors will buy apartments given the dearth of CBD living options in Cairns.
The architectural sales pitch says the tower will be “dressed in folded glass, creating an elegant and neutral palette with subtle accents in aluminium, stone, timber and ceramic evoking the surrounding rainforests and shimmering ocean”.
Local architect Carlo Amerio has been working on the Nova project for the past two years and has aimed to incorporate tropical design principles into the development.
“Nova symbolises the beginning of a new life, offering a brand new destination and cosmopolitan lifestyle experience for Cairns,” he said.
Anticipation about the Nova City development has been building in recent weeks after Cairns Regional Council approved more than $3.5 million worth of infrastructure upgrades surrounding the site.
The sewer and drainage works includes a $1.5 million spend by the developer to build a major drain in Dutton St.
Those infrastructure upgrades have started and need to be completed before construction work on the Nova Light tower can begin
